The story of Maison Vincent Girardin is relatively recent. In 1980, at the age of 19, Vincent Girardin, from a winemaking family in Santenay dating back to the 17th century, decided to strike out on his own and began with the two hectares of vines he inherited from his parents.
From a young age, Vincent was passionate about working the vines, which he deeply respected, and he wanted to produce his own wine from them.
Very quickly, the quality of his wines gained worldwide recognition, allowing him to expand his business, focusing primarily on the great white and red wines of the Côte de Beaune.
A Burgundy wine list curated by Vincent Girardin reflects the same high standards.
To meet the growing demand for his wines, he decided to create a new business in Burgundy: purchasing grapes from discerning winegrowers who shared his philosophy.
EXPRESSION DES TERROIRS
Au coeur de la Bourgogne
Her passion and curiosity led her in the 1980s and 90s to experiment with everything that was being done in winemaking at the time. It wasn't until the early 2000s, with the arrival of Eric Germain as winemaker, that a profound transformation took place. They decided to focus on the essentials: expressing the great terroirs of Burgundy. The purity of their style was born, now recognized by all professionals.
In 2012, Vincent Girardin handed over his business to a long-standing partner of the House. Mr. Nié, President of the Compagnie des Vins d'Autrefois in Beaune, naturally decided to rely on the small team of nine people, loyal for many years. Eric Germain perpetuates the style of the wines, and Marco Caschera represents them worldwide.
Maison Vincent Girardin offers prestigious appellations from 11 villages in the Côte de Beaune: Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Beaune, Aloxe-Corton, Volnay, Pommard, and Saint-Romain.
All of Girardin's Grands Vins are made from vines cultivated according to sustainable farming practices.
The great Girardin wines are the result of major qualitative changes.
For years, Maison Vincent Girardin has perpetuated its "Très Haute Couture" winemaking ethic.
The principles of biodynamics are applied to all the vines, namely:
- No herbicides or insecticides,
- Using natural compost from farms in the Burgundy region,
- High trellising for better photosynthesis,
- Hand-harvested with sorting on the vine and in the winery,
- Use of herbal teas and decoctions to protect the vineyard.
To complement its range of appellations, the House relies on long-standing external sourcing from loyal suppliers in the finest terroirs of Burgundy. These historical partners pursue the same winemaking philosophy as Maison Vincent Girardin on their own plots.

Major qualitative changes
Whether it's the Grands Vins of Meursault or the Grands Crus of Puligny-Montrachet, as with all the Grands Vins of Maison Vincent Girardin, we are committed to the most natural winemaking possible with the same convictions. Thus, in the cellar, we continue the work begun in the vineyards by:
- The use of top-quality equipment in traditional winemaking ensures the best natural expression of the terroir,
- Slow fermentation with indigenous yeasts, naturally present on the grapes,
- Extended aging on fine lees in oak barrels sourced from the finest French forests, with a judicious and sparing use of new oak,
- Adherence to the lunar calendar for all stages of winemaking and bottling, in order to preserve the full energy of the terroir.
The quality of our wines depends on the winemaker's technical choices.
Like the wines crafted by Eric Germain, our white wines derive their quality from finesse and exceptional aromatic purity, at the perfect balance between richness and vibrancy.
Our red wines are fruity and elegant, with supple tannins.
The success of this work demands constant rigor and vigilance from the winemaker, dedicated to each plot and each wine.
